Spirit of Mutual SupportMaterial Issue 2Supporting persons with disabilities to fulfill their dreams through artParticipated in Paralym Art ContestSompo Japan Nipponkoa has participated in the Paralym Art Contest mainlyorganized by the Shougaisha Jiritsu Suishin Kikou Association as a topsponsor. The contest aims to spread awareness of paralym art (art created bythe people with disabilities) throughoutJapan and overseas and attracted 1,862entries in fiscal year 2016, of which 71were awarded prizes.We held award ceremonies throughoutJapan for winners of the SOMPO ParalymArt 47 Prefectures Award. Winning entrieswere exhibited at our headquartersbuilding in Shinjuku, Tokyo.The project led to a collaborative workbetween Etienne Otsuka, who won botha 47 Prefectures Award and CaptainTsubasa Award, and Yoichi Takahashi, author of popular Japanese manga Captain Tsubasa.Letter from Etienne’s teacherHolding the 47 Prefectures Award ceremonyat our school gave other parents hope.
